http://askaboutthemouse.com/questions/96/good-semi-quiet-place-to-take-my-child-for-a-nap-in-the-hollywood-studiosGood (semi-quiet) place to take my child for a nap in the Hollywood StudiosAsk About The Mouse2009-12-03T00:42:35Z2010-09-03T00:22:18Z

I'm looking for a good place to take my child for a nap at the Hollywood Studios. She'll probably fall asleep in her stroller, so I'm looking for a cooler, semi-private (quiet) spot we can sit and rest (maybe have a beer!) while she naps.

http://askaboutthemouse.com/questions/143/does-king-arthurs-sword-ever-come-out-of-the-anvilDoes King Arthur's sword ever come out of the anvil?johnbell2010-02-13T03:19:42Z2010-08-25T15:33:14Z

King Arthur's sword can be found stuck in it's anvil right by Cinderella's Golden Carousel in the Magic Kingdom. Of course people can be seen all day long taking a crack at pulling the sword from the stone. I think I've heard that it actually comes out occassionally, or used to, or something. Anyone have any details about this, or am I 'remembering' something that never was?

http://askaboutthemouse.com/questions/86/walt-disney-world-real-time-attraction-wait-time-applications-for-smartphones-orWalt Disney World real-time attraction wait time applications for smartphones (or internet)?Vinnie2009-11-19T17:18:37Z2010-05-06T19:33:01Z

I'm sure there websites or smart-phone apps that post real time (or near real time) attraction wait times. Which are some of the best - based on usability and accuracy of the information?

I'm guessing some of the crowd sourced applications (where users in the parks post their own wait times) must be hit or miss based on who is in the parks and using that particular application.

Disney must have this information internally to update their tip boards and the signs outside their attraction queues. Do they share this information through a feed of some sort?

http://askaboutthemouse.com/questions/62/what-can-i-expect-from-disney-magical-expressWhat can I expect from Disney Magical Express?Vinnie2009-10-27T18:08:12Z2010-04-28T22:00:16Z

This is our first trip and we're using Disney's Magical Express to get from the Orlando Airport to the resort. I don't really know what to expect. I realize I don't need to pick up my bags, but what else do I need to need to know? It all seems so weird - but very nice too in not having to worry about getting a rental car, having directions ready, getting the luggage, etc.

How do you feel about the additions that Disney has been making to classic rides? For example, the new management angle for the Tiki Room in WDW or the Disney characters on the Small World ride in Disneyland. Should Disney characters appear everywhere? Are some rides better without the addition of these characters? (ie Pirates of the Caribbean)

http://askaboutthemouse.com/questions/71/did-the-jungle-cruise-always-include-the-jokesDid the Jungle Cruise always include the jokes?Vinnie2009-10-31T13:23:40Z2010-04-27T02:03:00Z

On our last trip were were riding the Jungle Cruise and enjoying all the classic lines - but then we started wonder if the ride had always included these jokes? I know Walt's original vision for this ride was to include live animals, so I'm guessing he wanted it to be a more realistic experience. It made me wonder if the jokes were always a part of the ride - even after they made the decision to use slightly "less alive" animals - or if the original ride was more "realistic"?

http://askaboutthemouse.com/questions/205/burning-cabin-on-wdws-tom-sawyer-islandBurning Cabin on WDWs Tom Sawyer Island?Vinnie2010-04-12T13:24:11Z2010-04-27T00:26:21Z

I love the history of Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Last summer I saw this post on Daveland with pictures of a burning settlers cabin on Tom Sawyer Island. The pictures were from 1960. The burning cabin was visible from the Mark Twain Riverboat on the Rivers of America.

I rode the Liberty Belle during my most recent trip to Walt Disney World and saw a similar looking cabin on Tom Sawyer Island, but it was not burning.

I guess I have a few questions:

Did Walt Disney World's incarnation of the cabin ever burn?

If so, does the cabin still burn? (maybe it was malfunctioning or turned off during my visit)

Does the original cabin in Disneyland still burn?

This looks like one of those cool details that Imagineers put around the parks to further tell their story. I could totally understand if it didn't operate anymore for safety reasons or something - but it would be SO COOL if it did.

I remember the Main Street Electrical Parade from the last "family trip" with my parents and brothers around 1990. I'm really excited about it's return this summer and sharing it with my wife and daughter (who've never seen it). How long has this arade been gone from the Magic Kingdom?

http://askaboutthemouse.com/questions/177/what-is-the-closure-schedule-for-walt-disney-worlds-fantasyland-mickeys-toontowWhat is the closure schedule for Walt Disney World's Fantasyland/Mickey's Toontown before the Fantasyland expansion?Vinnie2010-02-25T23:07:22Z2010-04-11T13:01:18Z

I have a few friends looking to plan a trip to Walt Disney World in either late 2010 or in 2011. They have young families and Fantasyland will be a huge priority for them. I know the Fantasyland expansion will be completed in 2 phases - opening in 2012 and 2013 - but when will the current Fantasyland start to close the attractions for construction.

I'm specifically looking for any closure info about the following attractions:

Mickey's Toontown (a biggie assuming another themed Mickey area or princess meet and greet is not opened)

Dumbo

Will these be affected - Snow White, Mickey's Philharmagic, Peter Pan, Pooh?

Many thanks!

To make myself feel better for allowing my daughter to miss school to travel to Walt Disney World, I'm helping her write a report on the animals we'll see during our stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The problem is: I don't know what animals are on the resort's safari. Is there a list somewhere?

I'd like to prepare by researching these animals and their behaviors, then documenting our experience and observations - and of course taking plenty of pictures. Thanks in advance!!

http://askaboutthemouse.com/questions/141/is-the-multiplane-camera-still-usedIs the multiplane camera still used?Vinnie2010-02-13T02:36:42Z2010-03-28T17:50:06Z

When last visiting Hollywood Studios, the "One Man's Dream" attraction, and seeing the exhibit for the multiplane camera, I began to wonder if it's still used to create animated films or shorts today. Was it used in the "Princess & the Frog"?

Recently watching "Tarzan" and "Hunchback of Notre Dame" it looks like the camera could have been used in those films as well, as each movie has an impressive feeling of depth of scene. It would be sort of amazing if it were still used in the age of "everything computer "considering "the multiplane" was invented in the early 1930's.

http://askaboutthemouse.com/questions/191/can-a-family-of-5-with-small-children-stay-in-a-regular-walt-disney-world-roomCan a family of 5 with small children stay in a "regular" Walt Disney World room (or would they need a family suite)? Vinnie2010-03-08T14:41:53Z2010-03-17T17:46:10Z

When do small children "count" as a room guest with regard to Walt Disney World hotels?

For instance, I know that children under 3 don't require park admission and there is a different age when children on the dining plan must purchase the adult plan. When is that "magic age" when children start to count as adults at the Walt Disney World resort hotels?

For instance, can a family of 5 (children ages 6, 4 & 3) stay in a regular resort room or would they require a larger (more expensive) room like a family suite?

If they can stay in a regular room while the children are small, at what age would Disney count the kids as adults and require that the family move to a larger room accommodation designed for 5 people?

It's fascinating to read about the developments and concepts for expanding Lake Buena Vista during the 70's and 80s.

The dwellings were architecturally interesting with many energy efficient components and consisted of:

Vacation Villas

The Treehouses

The Fairway Villas

Club Lake Villas

Other than the Treehouse Villas (recently rebuilt as part of the Saratoga Springs resort), do any of these dwellings still exist today? Can they still be rented?

My parents are going to Epcot over the holidays. Based on what I've heard (not much), I'm going to recommend they book a dinner package to get the reserved seating for the Candlelight Processional.

How does this work? My many questions include:

Do they call the regular dining reservations line to book this package?

Are the seats determined by the type of restaurant they go to? Are there even different levels to the package?

Are the actual seats "reserved" or is it general admission for all the package seating? If GA, how soon should I tell them to get there in advance of the show?

Is dinner typically before or after the show - or can they choose?

Do they pick up their reserved seating tickets at the restaurant?

Can they order from the full menu? Are appetizers & desserts included?
