King Arthur's sword can be found stuck in it's anvil right by Cinderella's Golden Carousel in the Magic Kingdom. Of course people can be seen all day long taking a crack at pulling the sword from the stone. I think I've heard that it actually comes out occassionally, or used to, or something. Anyone have any details about this, or am I 'remembering' something that never was?

I didn't know it could come out, but last January I witness the sword coming out of the anvil. We were taking pictures of our sons pulling the sword as usual, then a couple of japanese teenagers came and when one of them was posing for the picture the sword came out magically, and then slowly returned to its original position. The japanese girl was extremely surprised! Other people tried to do it but without any success. The weird thing was when the japanese girl's firend posed for the same shot, and the sword came out again! The only thing I could noticed was both were wearing some kind on ID card hanging from their necks. I assume there could be some kind of VIP visitor ID that can give special experiences to their bearers. |

Here's the best answer I could find, at AllEars.Net. It says there used to be a Sword in the Stone Ceremony several times daily from 1994-2006 in which "Merlin challenges young guests to pull the sword from the stone...". I don't remember ever seeing it. Check out the article, though. There are some good Readers' Stories about the ceremony. |

it's based on where you stand or touch (i forget which). that's probably why the posing did it. i used to know how to do it every time, so i would just walk up and pull it up with one hand :D |
