I have a few friends looking to plan a trip to Walt Disney World in either late 2010 or in 2011. They have young families and Fantasyland will be a huge priority for them. I know the Fantasyland expansion will be completed in 2 phases - opening in 2012 and 2013 - but when will the current Fantasyland start to close the attractions for construction.

I'm specifically looking for any closure info about the following attractions:

  • Mickey's Toontown (a biggie assuming another themed Mickey area or princess meet and greet is not opened)
  • Dumbo
  • Will these be affected - Snow White, Mickey's Philharmagic, Peter Pan, Pooh?

Many thanks!

UPDATES

  • [March 3, 2010] - Groundbreaking has begun!
  • [March 5, 2010] - I've heard from numerous unofficial sources speculation that construction is taking place in Exposition Hall on Main St. to house a new Mickey meet and greet once the Toontown Fair is closed later in 2010.
  • [April 11, 2010] - The AllEars weekly newsletter for April 6th reports that Ariel's Grotto and Pooh's Playful Spot may be closing as soon as April 11th to make way for construction to begin there.
